It is impossible to create color bombs until the three-layered icing on the topmost (which allows the candies to flow to the rightmost column where the 5×5 triangle is) or leftmost columns are cleared. Even then, there are limited areas to create color bombs, which can limit the areas which makes it hard to create more useful combinations, destroying plenty of jellies.
